ABOUT
US
Chris James is the well known sole proprietor of the business, and
he has had over thirty year experience in this specialised
area, collecting medals and militaria since he was a teenager, and
operating as a full time dealer & militaria fair organiser
for much of the time since.Chris's policy has always been
to supply quality original items at fair and realistic prices.Chris's
personal interests are WW2 aviation items, particularly medal
groupings with flying log books, and Japanese military swords, dirks, orders, medals, and
decorations.Chris has a shop in Warwick Antique Centre,22-24,High
Street,Warwick,CV34 4AP,England where you can call to see
a selection of the goods on offer.Warwick is a small historical
town in middle England, with many local attractions, such as
a fine castle, and the excellent military museum of the Royal
Warwickshire Regiment,to name but two of many. The shop is
situated in the main High Street on the corner of Swan Street, and
is only a couple of minutes from the M40 motorway. We are open
Monday to Saturday from 10.00am to 4.30pm.The internet may
prove to be a very convenient medium for buying and selling, but
Chris believes that customers will always be reassured when
it is possible to go and meet the person you are dealing with,at
a permanent address, where you can view the actual item of
interest, should you wish to do so.We all know how quickly
the faceless guy with no real address can disappear if problems
arise! Chris aims to offer the best all round service, giving
you all the options so you can enjoy a pleasant and straightforward
transaction.
Good
quality military collectors items (and most other fine antiques)
are becoming ever harder to find at realistic prices, and thus
Chris spends a lot of time out both here and abroad seeking
nice pieces to offer his customers. It is therefore essential
to make an appointment if you want to talk to Chris in person,or
discuss a part exchange transaction.(Telephone 01926-497340
with fax and answerphone or 07710-274452 mobile..The Antique
Centre number is 01926-495704).
THE STOCK
As you will see from this site I stock a wide range of military
collectors items, and my policy has always been to have 'something
for everyone', so you will find that I have items for a few
pounds for the collector just starting,or those wanting to
make an interesting collection without spending substantial
sums, right through to choice items for the specialist collector.
GUARANTEE
As you know many copies exist, particularly in the area of
Third Reich collectibles. Some are made for those who cannot
afford the original rare item, and some are intended to decieve. For
experience nothing beats handling the genuine article, and
with over 30 years experience,Chris has had the opportunity
to see most of what is available. If you buy a mail order item
from my company, and you have a valid reason not to be entirely
satisfied with the authenticity or our description, just return
it in the same condition within 14 days for a full refund
of the purchase price (you just pay the postage).I want you
to be happy with your purchases, not only because I hope you
will come back to buy something else, but because I believe
that's how business should be conducted.
CONDITION
Condition is assessed by the usual method,in the case of medals
as :
- Mint
(without fault,as originally struck)
- EF
(Extremely fine, showing only the slightest marks or wear)
- VF
(Very fine,showing minor scratches,wear,or cleaning)
- GF
(Good fine, showing signs of wear and tear, scratches, some
age deterioration,etc.)
- F (Fine.These
items will be well worn, perhaps heavily polished, the finer
detail no longer visible, but none the less a worth while
collectors item).
If there
are any dents to the edge of a medal (often sustained if they
are dropped),this will be noted as e.k. (Edge
knock). Medals will be supplied with the correct ribbon unless
otherwise stated. If the original ribbon has been lost or
is very worn or dirty, the correct replacement modern ribbon
will be supplied.Medals from the USSR often contain precious
metal, where as,particularly in the case of German decorations, the
terms 'silver' or 'gold' may apply to the grade of the award
rather than its metal content.Similarly the German '800' and
other marks can apply to the quality of silver plate, and do
not always indicate solid silver of this content. For items
other than medals we use a 'Grade' standard, similar to the
above, but listed as Grade 1,11,111,or 1V. I always try to
judge the condition of my items harshly, and sometimes my descriptions
can make the item sound a lot worse than it actually is,so
you should never be disappointed! Please note,in the case
of single medals, where we have more than one of an item available
or similar items listed,we may use a representative photograph
instead of one of the actual item. WE ALWAYS WANT TO BUY YOUR
GOOD QUALITY ITEMS! We believe you will find our terms very
attractive. Auctions now charge a combination of fees to the
buyer and the seller of up to 35% + 17.5% VAT. Some add the
cost of insurance, and catalogue illustration. OK the buyer
may be paying some of this, but make no mistake it all comes
out of the value of your article, sometimes well over 40%!
No risk for the Auctioneer,he is not buying your article,he
is just estimating what the hammer price might be,and he can
quote attractive figures because he will never have to back
his opinion with his own money! You might wait months for
the right sale, and then the item might not sell for your minimum
price.Anyway you'll probably have to wait another month after
the sale for your cheque even if the item is sold. You might
find what you actually receive disappointing.Sometimes things
in auctions realise stupidly high prices ~ someone will also
win a large amount on the lottery most weeks, but several million
other people will not be lucky!!
I am
willing to work on a lower percentage, with no ifs or maybes,
waits and delays, but MONEY IN YOUR POCKET IMMEDIATELY! PLEASE
LET US KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE FOR SALE. I AM VERY KEEN TO PURCHASE
NICE CONDITION SINGLE PIECES OR COMPLETE COLLECTIONS.
I can
also offer alternative methods to sell your item(s) Such as
a listing for sale on this web site,or I can enter your item
onto an online internet auction (where the fees are much lower).Call
me for further details.
